miller carr has us reeling

Miller Carr & the Shalant's new album, Passage Through Wilderness, Vol. II, continues to boggle the mind. All and sundry seriously need to check this thing out, with its swampy, hypnotic take on the rock singer-songwriter tack. Imagine Tom Waits, Cass McCombs and Barry White collaborating together on a charity album, and you might get the right idea.

hot to trot: port o'brien on fire!

Our beloved Port O'Brien have been lighting up the web lately with a flurry of flattering attention. Recent Myspace featured artist, the band has just premiered a video for the much-loved "I Woke Up Today" on the Stereogum blog. What's more, check this very nice album review of the band's brand-new disc off Pitchfork.
